With: Amy Berry, CEO, Tahoe Fund; Hilary Franz, President and CEO, American Forests; Zach Knight, Founder and CEO, Blue Forest; Harry Statter, Founder and CEO, Frontline Wildfire Defense Wildfire is one of the biggest threats facing mountain towns, and as moderator Amy Berry notes, one we know how to reduce. This panel works from ridgelines to rooflines: forest health, fuel breaks, home hardening, and how to pay for it. Hilary Franz describes a Washington thinning project that stopped a fire six feet from a lodge. Zach Knight explains Blue Forest's Forest Resilience Bond, now $50 million across 12 projects, repaid by water utilities and other beneficiaries. Harry Statter argues for starting at the home, since what sits around a house (cars, firewood, decks) often ignites it; Frontline protected 59 homes in the LA fires. Berry notes Lake Tahoe has about 24 million trees versus roughly 2 million historically, and that vent mesh may be one of the cheapest fixes. This is a main stage session from the Mountain Towns 2030 Climate Summit in Sun Valley, Idaho, October 13-14, 2026. Learn more about Mountain Towns 2030: https://www.mt2030.org
