Join us on an unforgettable two-day kayak adventure across Kala Wewa, Yoda Ela, and Thuruwila Wewa in Sri Lanka! This vlog captures some of the most thrilling and rare wildlife encounters we’ve ever experienced. On day one, we started kayaking from the Kala Wewa Mahaveli Bungalow and quickly found ourselves surrounded by nature. We spotted white-bellied sea eagles (මුහුදු රාජාලියා), many bird species, crocodiles, and—best of all—an entire herd of wild elephants right from our kayaks. After the ride, we stayed at the Mahaweli Bungalow. On day two, we paddled across Yoda Ela Lake, where we capsized a few times but were warmly supported by the friendly local villagers. Many of them had never seen kayakers before and offered us soft drinks and fresh coconut water. We wrapped up the day with a camping trip in Thuruwila Wewa. After our lorry got a flat tire, we still managed to enjoy a peaceful camping night under a sky full of stars. We even spotted a rare bird called the “bim bassa”. But the most unforgettable moment was when a wild elephant walked silently up to our campsite, stopping just 10 feet away!
