Under the trees, old neighborhoods in Chongqing, China reveal a quieter side of everyday city life. In this walk, I move from a leafy street into several connected residential communities, discovering steep stairways, suspended corridors, old corridor-style buildings, and homes built across different levels of the hillside. Along the way, I meet local residents, see the small plants they grow outside their doors, and eventually walk into a busy neighborhood market filled with fresh vegetables and everyday street life.
