He Said an Intruder Killed His Wife — True Crime Documentary

Ashley Flynn was asleep inside her Ohio home when she was shot twice in the back of the head. Her husband, Caleb Flynn — a worship leader and former American Idol contestant — told police that a mysterious intruder had broken into their home and killed her. But investigators soon found problems with that story. The garage door showed no convincing signs of forced entry from outside. Caleb's 9mm handgun was missing. And digital evidence from his devices challenged his claim that he had been asleep. Then investigators discovered something much bigger: a secret relationship documented by more than 100,000 messages. Hidden inside those conversations were messages about hatred, wanting Ashley gone, and a new life with another woman. Only hours before Ashley's murder, Caleb sent messages saying that “actions” would come the next day and that he was about to be “free.” But the case was far from simple. The murder weapon was never recovered. There was no eyewitness to the shooting. And the woman at the center of Caleb's affair had credibility problems of her own. In this episode of COLDPRINT, we follow the evidence from the supposed home invasion to the digital trail that ultimately put Caleb Flynn on trial for his wife's murder. Every Crime Leaves a Trace.
