📖 A PAGE DAILY | DAY 026 SURAH AL-BAQARAH (2:170–176) The Cow — Verses 170–176 ✨ 5-POINT SUMMARY Based on Tafsir Ibn Kathir 1. Verse 170 — Do not follow blindly When people are invited to follow Allah’s revelation, some insist on following the beliefs and practices of their ancestors, even when those beliefs lack guidance. Allah teaches us to prioritise His truth over inherited traditions that contradict His guidance. 2. Verse 171 — Listen to guidance with understanding Those who reject faith are compared to animals that hear a caller’s voice without understanding its meaning. This illustrates the danger of hearing the truth without reflecting upon it. True guidance requires an open heart, understanding, and willingness to obey Allah. 3. Verses 172–173 — Eat what is lawful and be grateful Allah commands the believers to consume the good and lawful provisions He has provided and to be grateful to Him. He prohibits carrion, blood, pork, and animals dedicated to other than Allah. However, in cases of genuine necessity, when a person is compelled and does not desire wrongdoing or exceed the limits, Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful. 4. Verses 174–175 — Do not conceal Allah’s revelations Those who conceal the Scripture revealed by Allah in exchange for worldly gain are warned of severe consequences. They choose misguidance over guidance and punishment over forgiveness. These verses remind us never to distort or hide religious truth for wealth, status, or personal benefit. 5. Verse 176 — Allah revealed the Scripture with truth Allah sent down the Book in truth, but some people disputed and opposed it. Those who differ from the truth of Allah’s revelation place themselves far from guidance. Believers must therefore hold firmly to the Qur’an and avoid allowing personal desires to override Allah’s commands. 🌙 TODAY’S REMINDER Do not let tradition, desires, or worldly benefits lead you away from Allah’s guidance. Listen to the Qur’an with an open heart, consume what is lawful, remain grateful for Allah’s provisions, and uphold the truth even when it is difficult.
