Durango & Silverton: D&RGW 340

In 2026, Durango and Silverton mechanical crews completed a thorough rebuilding of C-19 Baldwin No. 340. The locomotive was sent for rebuilding from Knotts Berry Farm of Buena Park, CA. In celebration of the locomotive’s completion, the D&S chartered several special trains for the locomotive to pull between Durango and Cascade Canyon for the enjoyment of the general public and the “who’s who” of US Narrow Gauge preservation. Included in the train was recently-renovated D&RGW Combine No. 211 Watch here as this beautiful 1881 machine traverses the line at several points along this famous little railroad. It sure was a beautiful chase. Upon the completion of these fan trips, the locomotive would be sent back to Knotts Berry Farm to continue serving as a key attraction for the historic California Theme Park.
