Highlights of Ísafjörður, Iceland

• We arrived in Ísafjörður the following morning and set out by coach to Bunárfoss, a charming waterfall just outside town. Nestled along the scenic slopes of Tungudalur Valley, Bunárfoss is a gentle cascade with a crisp, icy stream—remarkably, its water is pure enough to drink. • Our journey continued to the nearby town of Bolungarvík, where we visited the intriguing Ósvör Maritime Museum. This open-air museum faithfully recreates a 19th-century Icelandic fishing station, complete with turf-and-stone huts, a salt house, drying sheds, and the traditional Ölver rowboat. It offers a vivid glimpse into the harsh and demanding lives of early fishermen, brought to life by a curator dressed in authentic period attire. • We then made our way to Félagsheimilið, the local community center in Bolungarvík, where we were treated to a delightful short concert by a local singer—an intimate and memorable cultural experience. • After a rewarding and enriching day exploring the surroundings of Ísafjörður, we returned to our ship and prepared for the next leg of our journey: Reykjavík, Iceland’s vibrant capital.
