He Said My Name

HE SAID MY NAME –Inspired By John 20:11-18 I had been at the cross I stayed until it was over I watched them roll the stone across the door I went home because there was nothing left to stay for On Sunday before it was light I came back to the garden With spices and grief And nowhere left to put either one He said my name One word in the early morning dark He said my name And I knew Him by the sound of it I had mistaken Him for the gardener My grief was too complete to see But He said my name And everything that had ended Began again in me He said my name He told me do not hold on Go and tell the others So I ran through the waking city Saying what I could barely believe myself He is alive I said it out loud as I ran Because saying it out loud Was the only way to know it was real He said my name One word in the early morning dark He said my name And I knew Him by the sound of it I had mistaken Him for the gardener My grief was too complete to see But He said my name And everything that had ended Began again in me He said my name He came for the lost ones He came for the waiting ones He came for the ones nobody else stopped for And the ones weeping alone in gardens Before the sun came up He came He said their names He said my name He says your name He said my name One word in the early morning dark He said my name And I knew Him by the sound of it I had mistaken Him for the gardener My grief was too complete to see But He said my name And everything that had ended Began again in me He said my name He said my name He said my name Original lyrics by Trish Tipton Tried & True Worship Explore more worship songs and faith resources: https://trishstriedandtrue.com/faith-...
