Buddy's Week 1 Board & Train | Attention on Handler & Basic Obedience Training | Best Paw Forward

Buddy is officially kicking off his first week of Board & Train at Best Paw Forward Dog Training in Perkasie, PA! 🐾 Today, Buddy worked on attention on handler and basic obedience skills as we begin building a strong foundation for his four-week training program! Buddy is here working on polite greetings, potty training, and recall. Before jumping into more challenging behaviors, we want to establish good communication, engagement, and an understanding of basic commands. These foundational skills will play an important role in helping Buddy become more focused and responsive as his training progresses. In today's video, you'll see Buddy practicing: 🐾 Attention on Handler: Learning to focus on his handler and stay engaged during training sessions. 🐾 Basic Obedience: Building foundational commands like sit, down, and other essential listening skills. 🐾 Engagement & Focus: Learning that paying attention to his handler leads to positive outcomes. 🐾 Impulse Control: Beginning to develop patience and better decision-making skills. 🐾 Building a Strong Foundation: Establishing the communication and consistency needed for more advanced training. Why is attention on handler so important? Before we can expect a dog to reliably come when called, greet people politely, or listen around distractions, we need to teach them to pay attention to us! Building engagement early makes it easier to introduce more challenging skills as training progresses. Since Buddy struggles with jumping and mouthing during greetings, these foundational exercises will also help us teach him more appropriate ways to interact with people. As Buddy moves through his four-week Board & Train program, we'll continue building on these skills while working toward better recall, polite greetings, and consistent potty habits. We're excited to have Buddy with us and can't wait to watch his progress over the next four weeks! 📍 Best Paw Forward Dog Training proudly serves Perkasie, Bucks County, PA, and surrounding areas.
