133 miles through the wilderness of New Mexico, from the Gila River Canyon to the legendary Toaster House in Pie Town. This section of my Continental Divide Trail journey took me from Doc Campbell's through the rugged beauty of the Gila country, past natural hot springs, cold mornings, challenging terrain, and long stretches where finding water became part of the daily routine. After five days on the trail, I finally reached Pie Town and the hospitality of Nita's Toaster House — one of those special places that make long-distance hiking about much more than just walking.
