I'm so glad you're here. This is 20 min gentle yoga for beginners, a full body stretch to follow along with calm music and no talking. Just you, your mat and twenty quiet minutes.
I filmed this one outside, my mat on the sand of a really beautiful beach, just after sunrise with the sea behind me. Being in nature is one of the simplest ways to calm down, and I wanted you to get a bit of that through the screen.
Why these poses: if you sit all day, your hips stay folded shut and the front of your legs stays short. So six of our twenty four poses go to low lunges, hip openers and half splits, and your hamstrings get a proper turn too. Then shoulders, chest, spine, side body and lower back.
I hold most poses for around 45 seconds, and 10 seconds before each one I show you what's coming next.
We finish with twists and a full ninety seconds of Savasana. Please don't skip that part, lying still is what lets everything settle in. Lovely at sunrise, just as lovely in the evening after work.
You don't need to be flexible for this, and you don't need to have done yoga before. A mild pull is enough, never sharp. Leave out whatever isn't right for you today. I'm right here with you.
