One Word | Original Song inspired by Matthew 9

"One Word: is a compilation of stories from Matthew 9, woven together as a reflection on the authority, mercy, and compassion of Jesus. A paralyzed man is brought to Him, and Jesus sees the faith behind the people who carried him. He speaks forgiveness before telling him to rise and walk. Then Jesus calls Matthew from his tax collector’s booth and simply says, “Follow Me.” Later, Jesus sits at the table with people others have rejected and reminds those watching that He desires mercy, not sacrifice. These stories have become a reminder to me that Jesus doesn't seem intimidated by brokenness. He moves toward it. He speaks to what is paralyzed. He calls people who feel disqualified. He crosses boundaries others won't cross. He offers mercy where others offer judgment. And sometimes, all it takes is **one word**. The song is ultimately a prayer of trust: I don't have to understand how You will make me whole. I only have to trust Your heart and place within Your hands the places I cannot control. One word. One touch. One breath of mercy. And what was broken can begin again. *© 2026 The Homeward Heart. All rights reserved.* Original music and lyrics.
