When one person goes missing, there are a hundred possible stories. When two people vanish together, the stories get stranger. These ten couples walked out of a bar, drove out of a hotel garage, sailed into a storm or climbed back into a boat, and were never seen again.
The ten cases, in order: Tom and Eileen Lonergan, left behind by their dive boat on the Great Barrier Reef in 1998; Glen and Bessie Hyde, honeymooners whose boat was found floating empty in the Grand Canyon in 1928; Edward and Stephania Andrews, who drove out of a Chicago hotel garage in 1970; Conor and Sheila Dwyer, who left their glasses on the couch in Fermoy, Ireland, in 1991; Danielle Imbo and Richard Petrone Jr., last seen on South Street, Philadelphia, in 2005; Thomas Lynch Jr., signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his wife Elizabeth, lost at sea in 1779; Shirley Rosette and Gerald Foisy, the only two people missing after the Queen of the North sank in 2006; Caltech physicist Jon Mathews and his wife Jean, who sailed into Cyclone Claudette in 1979; Lyle and Marie McCann, whose motorhome was found burning near Edson, Alberta, in 2010; and John and Shelly Markley, who went to a bank drive-through with an unknown man in Ohio in 1995.
This is a sourced true-mystery documentary. Facts come from police and court records, official statements and the sources below. Theories are presented as theories. Living people are described only through what is on the public record. Some scenes are illustrations; photos are public domain, Creative Commons, or released by families and police for the search.
