LIGHTNING SESSION
Front-loading academic language to create active learners
How can home learning drive active classroom participation? This lightning talk demonstrates how a flipped classroom model uses pre-teaching tasks to build student confidence and academic language before lessons begin. Participants will explore a practical home learning framework that equips multilingual learners to engage deeply, develop study skills, and build independence. Attendees will discuss the approach, reflect on its classroom impact, and collaborate to adapt the task for their own learners, taking away concrete tools to render homework purposeful and effective.
Speaker: Magdalena Blake
