When English meets the world: Connecting, developing, transforming
What happens when English moves beyond the classroom and becomes a means for young people to connect, collaborate and make sense of the world with peers across borders? The session will examine how international projects mediated by technology can support learners’ development of four interconnected competences: linguistic, digital, intercultural and global. Particular attention will be given to critical literacy in ELT, showing how project tasks connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals can encourage learners to make connections between local and global realities, and position themselves as active global citizens.
