Why do you feel nauseous after a leg day but never after training arms? Dr. Andy Galpin explains that local muscular endurance depends on the body's ability to manage acid buildup in the muscles and flush that waste into the circulatory system. Large muscle groups like the quads and glutes dump a massive amount of waste, causing your body to want to expel it as quickly as possible through vomiting. To increase local muscular endurance, you do not need to worry about depleting fat or glycogen; instead, you must increase capillarization by training close to failure. Additionally, to build anaerobic capacity, you must combine both high and moderate-intensity training (zones 2 to 4) to improve oxygen transport and CO2 clearance. This video also introduces a breathing-based "gear system" to replace heart rate zones, helping you precisely control exertion levels without relying on electronic devices.
