Compass Home Platform rollout: how to prep your data before a brokerage switch

If your brokerage is moving to the Compass Home Platform, your CRM, CMA tool, and transaction workflow change on a schedule someone else set. This video breaks down what the Home Platform actually is, what happens to years of client data sitting in your old system, and the three questions worth asking before the cutover.
Compass closed its acquisition of Anywhere Real Estate in January, roughly a $1.6 billion deal creating a company of about 340,000 agents. In July it began rolling out its technology stack under the name Home Platform, starting with a pilot of more than 4,000 agents at Coldwell Banker, Corcoran, and Sotheby's International Realty. CEO Robert Reffkin said on the second quarter earnings call that by the end of September nearly 50,000 new agents in the owned brokerage brands would have access, putting more than 80,000 agents on the platform. The franchise network is slated to start in early 2027. Owned brokerage offices are operated directly by Compass. Franchise offices are independently owned businesses licensing the brand. Same sign out front, about a 15-month difference in timing.
A platform change is a data migration. Contacts, transaction history, marketing assets, and automations do not survive a migration equally. We walk through the export sequence to run while the old system is fully live, how to judge a platform on cost overlap, data portability, and what routes through the brokerage, plus the one month when you should not make a brokerage decision at all.
What this video covers:
✅ What the Compass Home Platform includes: CMA tool, collections, pre-listing buyer demand data, reverse prospecting, and agent network search
✅ Owned brokerage vs franchise office: the one fact that decides whether this is a September conversation or a 2027 one
✅ Exactly what survives a CRM migration (structured fields) and what gets lost or flattened (notes, tags, custom fields, email history, automations)
✅ The pre-cutover data export checklist: contacts to CSV stored outside brokerage control, closed transaction files, marketing templates as real files, automations documented on one page
✅ Three questions to judge any brokerage platform on: does it replace what you already pay for, does your data come back out on demand, and what travels through the brokerage
✅ The tech and cost audit to run before and after the switch, and why you should never make a brokerage decision in the first month of a migration

Frequently asked questions:
What data gets lost when a brokerage switches CRM platforms?
Structured fields like name, email, phone, and address usually make it across intact. What tends to get lost or flattened is your notes, your tags, your custom fields, the email history attached to a contact, and every automation built on tags that may not exist in the new system.
What should I export before my brokerage platform migration?
Export your full contact database to a CSV and keep a copy somewhere the brokerage does not control, download your closed transaction files, save your marketing templates as actual files rather than links into a system that is going away, and write down on one page what your automations currently do. Do it while the old system is fully live, because legacy systems tend to go read-only once migration starts.
