10 short French conversations for beginners, level A1-A2, all about travel and transport. Every conversation is introduced in English, then spoken entirely in French. Slow and clear listening practice. Scene 1 - At the station counter: buying a train ticket. "Je voudrais un billet de train." (I would like a train ticket.) "Le billet coûte quarante euros." (The ticket costs forty euros.) "Le train part de quel quai?" (Which platform does the train leave from?) Scene 2 - On the platform: finding the right platform. "Le train pour Marseille part du quai trois." (The Marseille train leaves from platform three.) "Le train part à quelle heure?" (What time does the train leave?) "Tu as quelle place, toi?" (What seat do you have?) Scene 3 - At the bus stop: waiting for the right bus. "Tu attends le bus aussi?" (Are you waiting for the bus too?) "Il arrive dans dix minutes, je crois." (It comes in ten minutes, I think.) "Tu descends à quel arrêt?" (Which stop do you get off at?) Scene 4 - At the car rental desk: renting a car. "Je voudrais louer une voiture." (I would like to rent a car.) "Ça coûte trente euros par jour." (It costs thirty euros per day.) "Vous avez votre permis?" (Do you have your licence?) Scene 5 - In the car: talking about the road. (It is exit number five, I think.) Scene 6 - At airport check-in: checking a bag. "Oui, j'ai une valise à enregistrer." (Yes, I have a suitcase to check in.) "Le vol part à quinze heures." (The flight leaves at three o'clock.) "Voici votre carte d'embarquement." (Here is your boarding pass.) Scene 7 - On the plane: finding your seat. "Je cherche ma place." (I am looking for my seat.) "Je voudrais un verre d'eau, s'il vous plaît." (I would like a glass of water, please.) "Le vol dure deux heures." (The flight lasts two hours.) Scene 8 - At the taxi stand: taking a taxi. "Je vais à la gare." (I am going to the station.) "On met environ dix minutes." (It takes about ten minutes.) "Je n'ai pas de monnaie." (I do not have any change.) Scene 9 - At the bike station: taking a city bike. "Tu veux prendre un vélo aussi?" (Do you want to take a bike too?) "Non, c'est un euro pour une heure." (No, it is one euro for an hour.)
