Torah Portion: Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11

In John 1:45, Philip joyfully announced to Nathanael, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote—Yeshua of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." This declaration reveals that the Torah is ultimately a testimony about Messiah. Moses was not merely recording Israel's history or giving commandments; he was faithfully bearing witness to the One who would come centuries later. The Torah portion found in Deuteronomy 3:23–7:11 contains some of the richest Messianic themes in all of Deuteronomy. It includes Moses' denied entrance into Canaan, Joshua's commissioning, the giving of the Ten Commandments, the Shema, the call to love Yahweh, warnings against idolatry, and Yahweh's covenant love for Israel. Read through the lens of Acts 3:21, which speaks of "the restoration of all things," these chapters also reveal themes that many Christian universalists understand as anticipating Yahweh's ultimate purpose of restoring His creation through Yeshua.
