Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Recipes | Pot Pie, Apple Pie & Sissy Rolls

These are recipes that my Grandma made, and they are absolutely delicious! They are still regulars here at Redbud View today. GRANDMA’S POT PIE 2 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup shortening 1/4 cup milk 2 eggs 2 tablespoons water Mix the above ingredients together with an electric mixer until the dough pulls away cleanly from the edges of the bowl. Form into a ball. Roll out on the counter and cut into strips. Cook the strips in chicken broth, with or without chicken added. You can also make this with a beef roast and beef broth. Delicious! GRANDMA’S PIE CRUST 3 cups flour 1 cup Crisco Scant teaspoon salt 2/3 cup ice water Mix the flour, Crisco and salt with a mixer. When the mixture starts to form small pea-sized pieces, add the ice water. Roll out into pie crust. For a two-crust filled pie: Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 375°F and bake for approximately 35 minutes. For a single empty pie shell: Bake at 375°F for approximately 20 minutes.
