If you have a sedentary job, struggle to exercise consistently, or simply cannot make the gym fit into your life right now: ma’am, get the walking pad. Mine has become one of the easiest ways for me to support my mental health, get more movement into a very busy life, study for longer periods, and work with my body instead of constantly trying to force it into somebody else’s idea of what a “good” exercise routine should look like. In this video, I’m talking about why walking has become such an important part of my routine, how I’ve noticed my desire for movement changing throughout my menstrual cycle, why I’m no longer interested in shaming myself into exercise, and the magic of being able to habit stack movement with studying, YouTube, work or whatever else I was already going to do. Because apparently I cannot make a video about a walking pad without eventually talking about body shame, nervous system regulation and learning how to listen to your body 😂 And if you’re in Jamaica wondering how on earth to import one without paying an obscene amount of money in shipping, I talk about that too. The walking pad is great. But the bigger shift for me has been learning to ask: what does my body actually need today? If you have questions about getting one into Jamaica, leave them below and I’ll share what I can about how I got mine. 0:00 — ma’am, get the walking pad 1:28 — I’m not walking to lose weight 2:18 — exercise without shaming yourself 3:25 — how I move differently throughout my cycle 5:03 — my 10k step goal isn’t a rule 6:06 — listening to your body over following the internet 7:00 — you can’t hate your body into changing 8:43 — there’s still a place for doing hard things 10:10 — how did we get here from walking pads? 😂 10:42 — why the gym doesn’t fit my life right now 12:06 — choosing the easiest way to stay active 12:42 — walking + habit stacking 13:09 — why walking helps me study 14:44 — making movement ridiculously easy 15:41 — what walking does for my energy 16:49 — I’m not doing this because I “should” 17:18 — walking with a spicy brain 17:42 — getting a walking pad in Jamaica 19:08 — supporting my body without shame
