Located in Hangzhou’s historic old town, Damanong is both a lively street market and a popular place for local residents to shop for groceries and enjoy breakfast. In this video, I explore the busy morning market and nearby breakfast restaurants, trying an enormous youtiao bigger than my face, steamed soup dumplings, savory soy milk, cong bao hui—a traditional Hangzhou snack made with scallions and crispy youtiao—and handmade sweet fermented glutinous rice flavored with osmanthus.
