From Degree to Direction: Prof. Sanjay Bang’s Message to the Class of 2026 | Sai University

A degree is important. But direction, wisdom and character matter more. Addressing the incoming Class of 2026, Prof. Sanjay Bang, Registrar, Sai University & Dean, School of Law, reflects on the values that form the foundation of Sai University — transformative liberal education, research, innovation, ethical leadership and societal impact. As India looks towards the vision of a developed nation by 2047, he emphasises the importance of developing these capabilities during students’ university years. At Sai University, students are encouraged to engage with world-class faculty, research and critical evaluation, while also growing personally through interaction with a diverse community of students from different backgrounds, cultures and languages. Prof. Bang also highlights an important challenge of the digital age: when information is available at our fingertips, knowing what information to trust, understand and apply becomes even more important. Education, he reminds students, is not simply about knowing things — it is about transforming information into knowledge and, ultimately, wisdom. His message to the Class of 2026 is built around four principles: Consistency over intensity. Progress over perfection. Discipline over motivation alone. Patience over pressure. He also shares a heartfelt message with parents, encouraging them to become a support system rather than controlling every decision, and to give their children the understanding, guidance and faith they need as they enter this new stage of life. And as students begin their journey at Sai University, his final message is simple yet powerful: Don't leave with only a degree. Leave with direction. Don't leave with only knowledge. Leave with wisdom. Don't leave with only confidence. Leave with character. Because education finds its greatest meaning when it creates an impact — not only for the individual, but for society, the country and the people who made the journey possible. Welcome to Sai University, Class of 2026. May your journey lead you towards knowledge, wisdom, character and purpose. #SaiUniversity #Orientation2026 #ClassOf2026 #SanjayBang #SaiUniversityChennai #LiberalEducation #Research #Innovation #EthicalLeadership #SocietalImpact #SchoolOfLaw #HigherEducation
