Coco’s Week 2 Day Train | Leave It Training for Reactivity & Impulse Control

Coco is starting off her second week of Day Train at Best Paw Forward Dog Training! Today’s session focused on strengthening her “leave it” command using kibble as a controlled distraction. While working around food may seem simple, this exercise is an important building block for Coco’s bigger training goals. Teaching her to disengage from something she wants and redirect her attention back to her handler helps develop the impulse control and responsiveness she’ll need when working through reactivity. As Coco becomes more consistent with “leave it,” we can gradually apply the same concept to more challenging distractions—including the triggers that cause her to react.
