Video interview with YasonX at    • Morphus Making Mahvel Madness!! (Feat. Mor...   X-Men: Children of the Atom (CPS2, 1994) rebuilt as a two-on-two tag game in the Marvel vs. Capcom mold: pick two fighters a side, tag, cancel a hit into your partner's entry, call a paid timed Duo so both partners fight at once, fire a team super, and in the Special edition play four people on one machine with Gambit, Rogue, Sabretooth and Marrow on the roster. What's in V5.2: Two picks a side on the game's own select screen; MP+HK tags, and your partner comes in with an attack Tag cancel: land a hit, tag, and the partner continues the combo Timed Duo (quarter circle back + MP+HK at Level Max): both partners on screen with their own TIME bars, X-Powers free while the clock runs Team super (quarter circle forward + MP+HK) for the ten original fighters: both X-Powers at once Secret fighters selectable: Juggernaut and Magneto in both editions, Akuma in Special Two-player edition: 13 fighters, with MvC1's Gambit (gait, cards, staff, Royal Flush) in Akuma's slot; runs on the ordinary cores for Fightcade, MAME and RetroArch Special edition: 17 fighters in three rows (Akuma stays; Gambit, Rogue, Sabretooth and Marrow join), four players (ports 1+3 against 2+4), a matching RetroArch core for Windows x64 and Apple silicon CPU challenge in the two-player edition: the CPU funds and calls its own Duos on Normal and Harder Native stage collapses, K.O. hand-offs, on-stage results and the victory screens all run as the game does them The 1:42 chapter is a schematic, not a photo: the original A-board and B-board, where the authored code sits in the program ROMs, how the donor art reaches the sprite renderer, and the Special core's emulator budget (an emulation setting, not a hardware overclock). The Special edition's extra members are virtual storage of the expanded emulator profile, not extra chips. Download: morphus56k.com/blog/xmcota-two-on-two-tag-teams. You need your own clean X-Men: Children of the Atom (Euro 950331, xmcota.zip and xmcota.key) and Marvel vs. Capcom (Euro 980123) sets; the Special builder also takes a supported X-Men vs. Street Fighter set and MVC2; nothing from any game is distributed. Photosensitivity warning: bright flashes from the game's supers and fast cuts. On our own frame-by-frame check against the general flash rule of ITU-R BT.1702 (not a certified test) no second has more than one large-area flash; if flashing light affects you, please take care.
