Years after leaving school, I’ve forgotten most of what my teachers taught me from textbooks. But somehow, the way some of them taught me to think has stayed with me for decades. One teacher taught me to question my own answers instead of simply trying to prove myself right. Another introduced me to logic and changed the way I examine arguments and assumptions. Years later, during my yoga teacher training, I learned about abundance—the idea that someone else having more doesn’t necessarily mean I have less. And today, some of my teachers aren’t even human. AI has become a thought partner in the way I learn, teach, read, travel, and create. Along the way, I’ve also realized that the teacher who has stayed with me the longest may be myself. Looking back, what remains isn’t a page from a textbook. It’s the way these teachers changed how I see the world. And as a teacher myself, that leaves me with another question: If knowledge is now everywhere—and AI can answer so many of our questions in seconds—what do we still need teachers for? That’s a question for my next video.
