JOHN 6:1–15 KJV | PART 1 | FIVE BARLEY LOAVES AND TWO SMALL FISHES

ABOUT / DESCRIPTION Five barley loaves. Two small fishes. About five thousand men. To the disciples, what they had was nowhere near enough. When Jesus saw the great multitude coming toward Him, He asked Philip: “Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” Philip immediately saw the size of the problem. Even two hundred pennyworth of bread would not be sufficient for everyone to receive a little. Andrew found a lad with five barley loaves and two small fishes, but even he asked: “but what are they among so many?” Yet tucked inside this account is a powerful statement: “And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.” The disciples were looking at the multitude. They were looking at the cost. They were looking at five loaves and two fishes. Jesus already knew what He would do. He told the men to sit down. He took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them. He did the same with the fishes. And they did not merely receive a little. Scripture says they received “as much as they would.” When everyone had eaten and was filled, Jesus gave another command: “Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.” From what had begun as five barley loaves, the disciples gathered twelve baskets of fragments that remained. The multitude saw what Jesus had done and declared: “This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.” John 6:1–15 KJV takes us from an impossible-looking need, to five barley loaves and two small fishes, to a multitude filled, and finally to twelve baskets remaining. Listen closely to the Scripture and hear the testimony contained in these words: “for he himself knew what he would do.” FIVE BARLEY LOAVES AND TWO SMALL FISHES John 6:1–15 KJV — Part 1 Scripture: John 6:1–15, King James Version (KJV) Artist: LWC Songs of Life Music: LivingWord Creations Music © 2026 LivingWord Creations Music.
