I attempt to write a Stoner Rock track for the first time from scratch! Stoner rock is all about heavy, low-tuned chugging guitar riffs, mountains of fuzz and distortion, extended instrumental passages, and heavy psychedelic influences. For inspiration, I spent time listening to bands like Acid King, Gaupo, Mars Red Sky, and Queens of the Stone Age. Guitars & FX: Tuning down to Drop C, routing guitars through a physical pedalboard (featuring the EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run, Mandrake, and His Matisse), and running Neural DSP's Morgan Amp Suite. Production & Mixing: Layering double-tracked rhythm guitars, capturing raw vs. processed audio, blending live drum takes with sample replacement using XLN Addictive Drums, and processing with Waves BB Tubes saturation.
