Everyone told you the window closes at thirty. The largest datasets ever assembled on human achievement say something else entirely — and almost nobody has checked. In this video: what the research actually says about when people peak, the three advantages you are accumulating right now with no receipt for any of them, and the single difference between someone who blooms late and someone who never blooms at all. From the outside, for years, those two look exactly the same. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ SOURCES — every claim in this video has a paper behind it Liu, Wang, Song, Giles, Sinatra & Wang (2018) — "Hot streaks in artistic, cultural, and scientific careers", Nature. Almost everyone gets one burst of highest-impact work. Its position within a career is essentially random. Liu, Dehmamy, Chown, Giles & Wang (2021) — "Understanding the onset of hot streaks across artistic, cultural, and scientific careers", Nature Communications. Exploration alone: no hot streak. Exploitation alone: no hot streak. The sequence is what lines up with the burst. Azoulay, Jones, Kim & Miranda (2020) — "Age and High-Growth Entrepreneurship", American Economic Review: Insights. US Census data on millions of founders. Average age of the founders behind the fastest-growing 0.1% of firms: 45. Jones, B. (2010) — "Age and Great Invention", Review of Economics and Statistics. The age of major achievement has risen steadily across the twentieth century. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ CHAPTERS 00:00 The arithmetic you keep doing 01:02 What this video will prove 01:09 The part of lightning nobody has ever seen 02:11 Why a career is a flat line with a burst in it 02:56 Advantage one — the wandering is the fuse 04:03 Advantage two — the base rates, and they are not close 05:10 Advantage three — the clock is a century out of date 06:00 The bill, and it is heavier than people admit 06:34 The part that keeps people up at night 07:34 One — find out which one you are 08:26 Two — name the switch date 09:12 Three — choose by convergence, not by passion 10:04 What the photograph cannot show ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ So which stage are you actually in right now — still branching, or already switched and just early into the boring part? Tell me below. I read them. Occam. One question, followed all the way down. Always with a source. #psychology #latebloomer #selfimprovement #motivation #career
