Spending a Day in Dlebta 🇱🇧: Hidden Trails, Old Homes, Food & Lebanese Village Life

Spending a beautiful day in Dlebta, one of Keserwan’s small hidden villages, surrounded by mountains with incredible views stretching toward the Mediterranean. Dlebta is also very personal to me. My aunt is from here, and since I was a child, I have been coming to this village, growing up between its old houses, gardens, stone stairways and traditional Lebanese architecture. Today, we rediscover Dlebta from a completely different perspective. We start the morning with an authentic Lebanese breakfast and traditional manakish made with an old-style dough, before visiting my aunt and discovering her remarkable traditional Lebanese home, its three arches, old stones and stories dating back generations. Then we explore the village with Nada and TourLeb, discovering Dlebta’s newly developed walking trails: paths through history, old presses, hidden stairways, religious landmarks, traditional crafts and places even I had never seen before. Along the way, we meet the people of Dlebta, enter beautiful old homes, discover family treasures and forgotten architecture, visit the impressive Our Lady of Peace statue, enjoy a generous Lebanese village lunch and learn about traditions that continue to survive from one generation to another. We also visit an extraordinary old monastery, discover the traditional art of making marzipan by hand, walk ancient stone stairways and finish by experiencing another important part of village life: homemade Lebanese arak, still produced by families using their traditional karakeh. Dlebta proves once again that you don’t need to travel far to discover something extraordinary in Lebanon. Behind every old door is a story. Behind every stone house is a piece of history. And in every small Lebanese village, there are people, traditions and treasures waiting to be discovered.
