Seventy-some days from Canada, my trail family and I walked into Steamboat Springs, the halfway point of the Continental Divide Trail. This is Day 71 to 73, and it is a bittersweet one.
Colorado has been beautiful, even with a sore knee and a diet of Pop-Tarts. But reaching the halfway town also meant our last morning all together, because one of the crew is leaving the trail after the midpoint. We made it into Steamboat, cooked carbonara for everyone in the Airbnb, took a rest day, and I finally retired my Topo shoes after more than 1,000 miles. Now it is time to rest the legs and get ready for the second half all the way to Mexico.
Over the next few months I'm hiking more than 3,000 miles (5,000 km) from Canada to Mexico through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. It's my third of the Triple Crown after the Appalachian Trail and the PCT, and it's turning out to be the toughest yet. Subscribe and come along for the whole thing.

I film and edit all of this myself out on trail. If it adds something to your day, you can superpower me with a trail snack here: https://buymeacoffee.com/the.ambassador
