Who built the first house? Who brought the first boat ashore? Who gave Fox Town its name? “Fox Town — The Town That Appeared” is a Bahamian storytelling song honouring the families, fishermen, teachers, church leaders, and community traditions of Fox Town, Little Abaco, Bahamas. From fishing knowledge passed between generations to school days, family businesses, and homecoming celebrations, this song remembers the people whose everyday work helped sustain a community. It honours names including McIntosh, Russell, Parker, Wells, Curry, Rolle, Thompson, Ambrister, and Saunders—and invites families to share the memories still waiting to be recorded. ABOUT THE TITLE “The Town That Appeared” refers poetically to Fox Town appearing in the historical records we located. It does not mean the community suddenly appeared or had no earlier history. Foxtown was mentioned in an account of a 1936 expedition; that is a documented mention, not a confirmed founding date. The first permanent households, the origin of the settlement’s name, and any earlier settlement name remain unverified. DO YOU HAVE A FOX TOWN STORY? Share your elders’ memories, family names, old photographs, school experiences, and fishing stories in the comments. Please distinguish family recollections from information supported by documents so we can preserve both with care. Performed by Kendell “Roots” Rolle Produced by AFA Digital Music Studio Research sources appear in the video’s closing credits. Cover artwork is an artist’s interpretation.
