🧥 Ana married a man she did not love, for money, in a registry office, on a Tuesday morning at ten past nine. Her father had borrowed against the house and could not drive again after a stroke. The bank had sent two letters, and the second one had a date on it. Then Nicolas Barre, who owned the fruit farm on the north road, offered her a deal: he would clear the whole debt if she would be his wife for eighteen months — because his father's will said the farm would be sold unless he married before his forty-fifth birthday. Two years later, a boiler flooded his room. And at the bottom of his wardrobe, in a wooden box, Ana found a dark green hand-knitted jumper with a hole in the elbow — a jumper she had last seen when she was seventeen years old, working nights at a petrol station. The Green Jumper is an English story for beginner and lower-intermediate learners (A2–B1). Clear sentences and very useful vocabulary about money, family, work and illness. A story about a deal, a secret, and eleven minutes of kindness that somebody kept for eighteen years. 🎧 How to learn with this video: 1️⃣ First time: just listen and follow the story. 2️⃣ Second time: turn on English subtitles and read along. 3️⃣ Third time: pause and repeat the dialogue out loud (shadowing). 📖 Chapters: 0:00 The Green Jumper 1:57 The Offer 4:18 Yes 6:48 The First Months 8:45 A Winter in a Big House 11:04 The Box in the Wardrobe 13:58 "Why Me?" 16:27 The Real Marriage 18:37 The Change 20:43 The Woman from the Office 22:45 Six Months 24:56 What It Cost 27:13 What I Would Tell You 📝 Useful words from the story: debt – money you owe to somebody will – a legal paper saying who gets your things after you die inherit – receive something after someone dies agreement – something two people decide and write down lost property – a place where things people left behind are kept chemotherapy – strong medicine used to treat cancer fatigue – deep tiredness that does not go away with sleep 💬 Question for you: Has a stranger ever been kind to you in a way you still remember?
