⏱️ Two weeks before her wedding, Nora's fiancé sat down in her flat and told her he could not do it. She made all sixty-one phone calls herself. And afterwards she made one quiet decision that she never said out loud: I will never again build something that another person can walk out of.
For six years, her life was a small clock repair shop, a one-bedroom flat, and a walk in the park on Sundays. She called it peace.
Then, on a wet Tuesday in February, a man came in with a broken pocket watch. She told him the truth: the parts have not been made for a hundred years, and this watch cannot be repaired. He put it back in his pocket and thanked her.
And the next Tuesday, he came back.
The Watch That Could Not Be Fixed is an English story for beginner and lower-intermediate learners (A2–B1). Clear sentences, natural dialogue, and useful emotional vocabulary. A slow, honest story about grief, trust, and the difference between being safe and being alive.
