Disasters and Shenanigans: Featuring the Vanes, Save the Princess, and more    • Disasters and Shenanigans   Good afternoon, darlings. Healing is very simple. Your party enters the dungeon. Your party leaves the dungeon. Preferably breathing. But you have to be flexible. [Verse 1] Here you'll learn tourniquets and timing, How to judge the deepest wound, Who can wait another minute, Who needs your attention right now. Watch the field, conserve your power, Keep your concentration clear, Know who's standing, know who's bleeding, Know who shouldn't still be here. Your job is not to win the battle. It's making certain everyone else stays up to keep winning it. [Chorus] Keep your party on their feet. That's the healer's guarantee. Early, late, alive or otherwise, Your motto should always be They're coming home with me. Patch the fighter, mend the caster, Get the rogue back on their feet. Breathing is preferred, of course— But keep your party on their feet. [Verse 2] Now, tanks require special handling. They believe their armor means every blow is an invitation to break their bones while trying not to scream. They'll say, “I'm fine.” They'll say, “Someone needs it more.” Then they'll lose another pint of blood and stagger through the door. Heal them. And If they enjoy arguing, there are several useful spells for improving their disposition to your vocation. [Chorus] Keep your party on their feet. Do not bargain, do not plead. If they're conscious enough to argue, they are conscious enough to bleed. Mend the bones and close the arteries, Make the heartbeat strong and sweet. Sometimes the heartbeat is optional— Just keep your party on their feet. [Verse 3] Eventually someone will die. Don't panic. Death is a medical condition with several available responses. You assess the body. You assess the soul. Determine how permanent this particular death actually needs to be. Revival is ideal. Necromancy is a great Plan B... [Verse 4] Sometimes time is rather tight. Sometimes someone needs to fight before you've properly restored their life. It's about flexibility. A good healer understands the difference between: “functional,” “stable,” “alive,” and— “good enough for now.” [Chorus] Keep your party on their feet. That's the healer's guarantee. Living, dead—details can wait. If everyone's moving in formation, Your job is complete. We can settle what they're classified as once everyone's on their feet. [Final Chorus] Keep your party on their feet. That's the only rule you need. Cleric, druid, bard or whoever you maybe when your allies bleed. Heal them early, heal them often, Drag them back from their defeat. Alive is best. Undeath for flexibility. Just keep your party on their feet.
