Porkchop's Week 2 Board & Train | Teaching Leave It & Impulse Control | Best Paw Forward

Porkchop the French Bulldog is kicking off his second week of Board & Train at Best Paw Forward Dog Training in Perkasie, PA! 🐾 Today, Porkchop worked on "Leave It," an important obedience command that helps dogs develop impulse control, improve focus, and learn to disengage from distractions. During this session, Porkchop wasn't showing much interest in food, so we had to modify our training approach a bit to keep him engaged and learning! Every dog is different, and part of successful dog training is recognizing what motivates each dog and adjusting sessions to set them up for success. In today's video, you'll see Porkchop practicing: 🐾 Leave It Training: Learning to disengage from distractions and redirect his attention to his handler. 🐾 Impulse Control: Building patience and learning to make better choices. 🐾 Attention & Focus: Strengthening his ability to stay engaged with his handler. 🐾 Adapting Training Methods: Adjusting the session when food wasn't motivating him to ensure he could continue learning successfully. Since Porkchop is here working on reactivity, recall, and polite greetings, developing a strong "Leave It" command will be an important tool as we continue introducing more challenging distractions. Training isn't always perfect, and that's okay! We want owners to see the real training process, including moments when we need to adjust our approach. Learning how to work through these challenges is just as important as seeing successful repetitions.
