*BUILD YOUR ENGINE, NOT JUST YOUR SPEED*
Not every rowing workout needs to be hard to make you fitter. This session is all about building the aerobic foundation that supports your faster, more demanding workouts.
At 18 strokes per minute, there's plenty of time to focus on good posture, a strong connection through the legs, body and arms, and a smooth, controlled recovery.
The aim is to stay comfortable and consistent throughout the 40 minutes. If you need to sit towards the easier end of the pace range, that's absolutely fine. It's a long, continuous row, and there's no prize for making it harder than it needs to be.
And once we've covered some rowing technique, I'll keep you company with the story of how I first got into indoor rowing, bought my own Concept2 and eventually found myself at my first indoor rowing championships!
Although this is part of my Road to 2K training plan, it works brilliantly as a standalone workout for anyone wanting to improve their rowing fitness.
