Can you enjoy Lofoten when the weather is crap?

Summer in Northern Norway didn't exactly show up for us this year - and Lofoten was no exception. Instead of midnight sun, mountain views and long summer hikes, we got rain, wind, fog... and then some more rain. But bad weather doesn't have to mean a bad adventure. So instead of waiting for Lofoten to give us the conditions we wanted, we worked with the ones we had. We went Arctic surfing in the Norwegian Sea, tried freediving along the Lofoten coast, foraged our own mussels and sea urchins, and turned what we found underwater into dinner. It wasn't the picture-perfect Lofoten summer people travel here hoping for. But maybe that's exactly the point. Adventure isn't something that only happens when the weather is perfect, you have weeks of vacation, expensive gear or everything goes according to plan. Sometimes it's simply about adapting, getting outside and making something out of the day you've been given. You don't need perfect conditions to have a good life. You just need to stop waiting for them - and start living.
