Different minds, fairer measures: Rethinking assessment for neurodiverse learners Traditional assessment can unintentionally measure memory, speed, handwriting or confidence rather than language learning. This interactive workshop explores how teachers can make assessment more accessible for neurodivergent children and teenagers without lowering expectations. Through classroom examples and chat-based reflection, participants will examine common barriers and redesign assessment tasks using scaffolding, choice, multimodal responses and process-based evidence. The session will introduce a practical framework for deciding what we are truly assessing and which adjustments preserve the learning objective. Participants will leave with adaptable strategies for creating fairer assessments that allow different learners to demonstrate what they know.
