After discovering that the engine suffered a piston ring failure in cylinder 4, we've been working through the process of stripping the car down and getting the engine out. But as we dig deeper into the project, it looks like the engine problems might not be the only thing we need to worry about. We're now uncovering some seriously concerning rust and what appear to be bodged repairs from the car's past. The more we investigate, the more questions we're left asking about the condition of this Accord Type R and what previous owners have done to it. It's one thing dealing with a failed engine, but when you start finding unexpected rust and questionable repairs on top of everything else, the cost and effort of bringing a car back to life can quickly spiral out of control.
