Tesla's new Roadster flipped upside down in mid-air, live on X, and the headlines said flying cars are finally here. But there's one number Tesla didn't put on screen: how long this car can actually stay in the air. We do the math, and dig through 100 years of flying-car crashes, frauds and bankruptcies to answer one question: is Tesla actually different? One flying car ran out of fuel in the sky because the pilot checked the wrong fuel gauge. One killed the man who built it. One raised hundreds of millions of dollars and went bust twice.
