September 28, 2026: My morning walk in gratitude… A Touch of Wonder… This morning felt like one of those mornings when nature decided to put a little extra magic into everything. The sunrise was beautiful, spreading its golden light across the water, and somehow the moon was still hanging around, sharing the morning sky. Sun and moon together, each taking their turn but lingering long enough to say hello. And then came my favorite part. The wings. Here they came flying down the pier toward me, filling the quiet morning with movement and excitement. Before long, everyone was lined up along the railing, waiting for their turn. A fishing boat slowly passed by in the distance while my little pier family gathered around me. Of course, Pegleg made absolutely certain I knew he was there. He has been so vocal lately, and I love every second of it. My little buddy was there too, balancing beautifully on his one foot. It amazes me how quickly these little birds adapt. Something that seems like such an enormous obstacle doesn’t stop them from showing up, eating, flying, and carrying on with life. And there was Honey Girl, waiting for me on the railing with her sweet crooked little foot. She knows the routine. They were so hungry today. Apparently my little breakfast club arrived with very serious appetites. Standing there feeding them as the morning sun warmed the pier, I thought about the message I brought with me today: “I hope a touch of wonder and magic finds its way to you.” Maybe wonder doesn’t always have to find us. Maybe it’s already here. In a moon that stays for sunrise. In wings flying toward you. In a fishing boat crossing the morning water. In a tiny bird learning to balance on one foot. In being recognized by creatures who once were strangers. The more I notice, the more extraordinary the ordinary becomes. And somehow, every morning, these little birds remind me of that. Grateful for another beautiful morning, another sunrise, and another touch of wonder and magic. Capturing beauty, sharing light. —April
