Simple Living in a Ukrainian Village | Fall Foraging & Farm Chores

Spend a fall day with me in a small Ukrainian village—from searching for wild mushrooms in a beautiful autumn forest to feeding the animals and milking my goats after dark. 🍂🐐 The forest is so beautiful at this time of year. I find a few porcini and bay boletes, and although my harvest is small, I’m happy with my finds. Sometimes, simply being out among the trees is a reward of its own. Back home, the evening chores are waiting. I feed the chickens and ducks, cut up beetroot and watermelon for the goats, and head out to cut fresh grass for their dinner. I’m a little late getting to the pasture today. With clouds overhead and daylight fading, I bring the goats home—but first, I let them graze a little longer along the way. They always enjoy those extra stops! By the time I sit down to milk them, it’s already dark, around eight in the evening. This is what everyday country life looks like for me: a little time to enjoy nature, plenty of work, and animals that depend on my care.
