Their promises of transmutation, immortality and mastery over death survive every later correction, shaping an ambition that modern science will refine rather than erase. (Verse 1) He found Agrippa waiting in a volume worn and old, Where nature kept her hidden laws in characters of gold. The page became a doorway to a universe concealed, And promised that the deepest truths of life might yet be revealed. (Verse 2) Paracelsus spoke of powers no common eye could trace, And Magnus drew strange wonders from each undiscovered place. They whispered of the living spark, the stone, the deathless breath, And planted in his youthful mind a war against all death. (Chorus) The ancient philosophers called him beyond the mortal frame, To seize the guarded mysteries and write them in his name. Their ruined dreams still glittered with a dangerous, distant light, And turned his love of knowledge towards dominion over night. (Verse 3) His father dismissed Agrippa with a careless word of scorn, But gave no sound instruction why such visions should be torn. The silence left the old beliefs to strengthen in his mind, For unanswered condemnation made their promises more kind. (Verse 4) He dreamed the philosopher’s stone might banish human pain, And call the dead from darkness into breathing life again. No simple field of learning could contain the heights he sought, For immortality had entered every waking thought. (Chorus) The ancient philosophers called him beyond the mortal frame, To seize the guarded mysteries and write them in his name. Their ruined dreams still glittered with a dangerous, distant light, And turned his love of knowledge towards dominion over night. (Bridge) Though later science mocked the books and named their wisdom vain, Their hunger for forbidden truth remained within his brain. The methods changed beneath his hands, the old ambition stayed, And every modern instrument served dreams the ancients made. (Outro) So Agrippa’s distant shadow crossed the threshold of his youth, And taught him that no boundary should stand before the truth. Long after ancient doctrines fell beneath the modern flame, Their promise lived in Victor and consumed his heart and name. #horrormusic #gothicmusic #metal #thrash #frankenstein #maryshelley
