Back workout for a bigger bench press 💪🏻
Today’s session was focused on building a stronger upper back and lats to support my bench press.
A strong back gives you a better platform to press from, helps you stay tight under heavy weight, and gives you more control as you lower the bar.
Workout:
Started with Seal Rows 4x 4-8
Seal rows are one of my favourite back exercises because they let me train the upper back hard without putting loads of extra fatigue through the lower back. They also feel very specific to benching because the movement is almost the opposite pattern — pulling the weight towards you instead of pressing it away.
Single-Arm Cable Pulldowns
Focused on getting a full stretch and strong contraction through the lats.
Lat Pulldowns 2x 8-12
Seated Cable Rows 2x 10-20
I use a lot of chest-supported and cable-based back work because my main goal is still increasing my bench press. I want to build a bigger, stronger back without creating unnecessary fatigue that could interfere with heavy pressing.
Bigger back = stronger base for a bigger bench press.
Road to 210KG continues 💪🏻
