Today we’re making a simple homemade pantry staple that is easy, delicious, and budget friendly—Everything Bagel Seasoning!
This is one of those seasoning blends that is so easy to make at home, especially if you already keep the ingredients in your pantry. Not only can you make about three times as much as a typical store-bought spice bottle, but you can also customize it to your own taste, dietary needs, and imagination.
I used ingredients I already had on hand in larger containers, and I stored my seasoning in a pretty recycled glass jar I saved from years ago. That is what Money Saving Monday is all about—using what you have, making what you need, and saving money along the way!
This blend is delicious on:
bagels with cream cheese
avocado toast
eggs
roasted vegetables
potatoes
salads
chicken
homemade bread
If you need to reduce sodium, simply leave out the salt. If you like a little heat, add some chili flakes. The beauty of making your own is that you get to make it exactly the way you like it.
Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning
2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
2 tablespoons dried minced garlic
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1 tablespoon dried chives
1 tablespoon flaky sea salt
Yield: Approximately 3/4 cup
Instructions
Mix all ingredients together until well combined. Store in an airtight container or spice jar in a cool, dry place.
