God's love is not a mood. it has a date on it, and its stated object was our sin. so the question the whole message answers is: if He came to make us live — what exactly was He taking us out of? where we're going today: · a sign that grace can be misused, and Paul's actual answer: you died to this (Romans 6:1-2) · there is no third option — you are slaves to the one you obey (Romans 6:16) · two yokes: the one God gave at Sinai, and the one men stacked on other men (Matthew 11:28-30, Matthew 23:4) · He saves His people FROM their sins, not IN them (Matthew 1:21) that middle one is where it turns. everybody wears a yoke. Messiah never offered you a life without one — He offered you His. one was given at Sinai by the God who redeemed a people. the other was stacked on other men's shoulders by men who wouldn't lift a finger to move it. and we're going to read what the ancient Nazarenes said about that — Sabbath-keeping, feast-keeping, Yeshua-confessing believers, fifteen hundred years ago, describing what Messiah came to lift. they call it the very heavy yoke of the Jewish traditions. not the Torah of God. heads up: this one has a long first half and a short second half. if you have to step away, the two yokes section is the part you want. — WATCHING FROM A DISTANCE? you're not alone — you're a Scattered Doer.
