In this video, I fly from Sugar Land Regional Airport (KSGR) in Texas to Hamlin, Texas, departing through the Houston airspace. I hadn’t recorded a Houston departure before, so this one is all about what it looks like to get out of the busy Houston area and then settle in for the rest of the trip. Before takeoff, I walk you through how mobile clearance delivery works at Sugar Land: how you request it, what the process looks like, and what to expect when you get your clearance without calling a clearance delivery frequency. If you’ve never used it, this is a good look at it in practice. Once we’re out of Houston, it’s a pretty standard cross-country. A cloud layer sits over the top of Abilene as we approach, but it clears up as we get closer to Hamlin. 00:00 - 01. Introduction 00:52 - 02. Picking up our Mobile Clearance 04:26 - 03.
