Catalonia is being hit by a second wave of torrential rain less than 48 hours after a record-breaking weekend storm — and the recovery from the first wave is nowhere near finished.
Meteocat has set the danger level at 4 out of 6, warning of more than 40mm of rain in 30 minutes on the coast tonight, with 21 counties under alert and the Inuncat flood plan still in its emergency phase. The storm line is moving from the Ebre lands through Tarragona and Barcelona towards Girona, over ground that can absorb nothing more.
In this report:
• Tonight's second storm wave arriving on the Tarragona coast
• The unfinished recovery: 4,430 subscribers still without power, 11 rail lines affected, the R11 suspended to the French border
• The two searches still open — Pineda de Mar and Granollers
• Why this coast floods in under 30 minutes, and the threat that runs to Thursday evening
Damage and aftermath footage in this report is real and verified. Some visuals are 3D map illustrations and generic storm-scenery illustrations; eyewitness clips from tonight (Tarragona / La Pineda) were recorded on Tuesday 6 October 2026. No claim in this report is based on unverified figures — where a number is still unconfirmed, we say so.
