Language Matters: Nakona Language Teacher Crystal Redgrave hosted by Whitney TopSky

Check out our first Language Matters: Class 7 Zoom session of fall 2026 featuring Dr. Crystal Redgrave (Nakona). Crystal is Nakona from Ft. Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes, and is the co-founder of Nakona University. She teaches Nakona language courses. In this hour-long session, Crystal shares a layered approach to Indigenous worldview and how it connects to education practices. Her insights help viewers understand the connectedness among components of Indigenous thought, and how understanding these connections can help educators provide more culturally sensitive, respectful learning experience for our students. This session focuses on the larger picture of Indigenous education. Each Language Matters session is intended to bring together Indigenous language teachers to learn from one another and support students in language and cultural preservation. All our Language Matters sessions are hosted by Whitney TopSky. Join us each month for the Language Matters: Class 7 Zoom Series!
